GUIDELINES FOR CONTRIBUTORS
In addition to scholarly articles on film, television, and other moving image media, CJFS/RCEC publishes book reviews and review-essays. These are assigned by the Book Review Editor, Catherine Russell. Inquiries may be sent to her at crus@concordia.ca.
Other occasional features of CJFS/RCEC are “Ciné-Documents”–rare and archival materials relevant to film study, and “Ciné-Forum”–short articles (maximum 2500 words) on any topic of interest to film students and scholars. Possible topics include debates on current contributions to film theory, history, criticism, and pedagogy; information about archives, special collections, and other sources for research; commentary on little-known or under-appreciated individuals, organizations, and films; translations; interviews; reviews of DVDs that have particular relevance to archival, critical, or pedagogical aspects of film studies. Additional information about CJFS/RCEC may be found at www.filmstudies.ca/cjfs.htm.
The recommended maximum length for articles is six thousand words. La Revue publie les manuscrits rédigés en français ou en anglais.
CJFS/RCEC uses a double-blind refereeing process. Suitable submissions are read by at least two referees. The journal does not pay contributors; authors will receive a PDF of their published article along with five complimentary copies of the issue in which it appears.
Preparation of Submissions
Double-space throughout, including indented citations and endnotes. Pages should be numbered. The author’s name should appear only on a separate title page. Citations should be placed in endnotes in the format recommended in The Chicago Manual of Style. Submissions, accompanied by a 100-150 word abstract, may be sent as email attachments (in MS Word, Word Perfect, or Rich Text Format) to cjfsedit@filmstudies.ca, or by regular mail to The Editors, Canadian Journal of Film Studies/Revue canadienne d’études cinématographiques, Concordia University SB 419, 1455 de Maisonneuve Blvd O., Montreal, Quebec, H3G 1M8 .
